5yr old girl sustains horrific injuries after being allegedly attacked in school

 

5 year old AvaLynn was nearly disfigured when she was allegedly attacked by another pupil at her Elementary school in Mississippi this week. The most bizarre thing about this story is that the school is maintaining that she was not attacked, rather she got the horrific injuries in an accident while playing on the playground. Makes no sense. This looks more like a vicious attack to me.

Her mother and other relatives have opened a
Facebook page for the young girl to tell what happened to her and share photos of her injuries, while seeking for justice. Below is what they wrote on the Facebook page about the incident...

"On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, Lacey Harris was called go come pick up her daughter at Arlington Elementary School in Pascagoula, Mississippi, because AvaLynn had been injured in an accident. The sight Lacey found when she got to Ava's school was a parents' nightmare: her face swollen, cut, and bruised beyond recognition." Continue...

Joan Rivers now on life support

Dear Lord, let this woman come out of this alive. According to TMZ, Joan Rivers is on life support and sources close to the legendary comedian say she is completely reliant on machines to stay alive.

"According to our sources, the family will have to decide in the next couple of days whether to keep the 81-year-old on life support. We're told the family remains hopeful that if they do decide to turn off the machines, she will make a turn for the better and fight through it." Ebola: Scientists invent robot to prevent spread of virus

 

In an effort to eliminate Ebola,US scientists have created two “germ-killing robots” which have been deployed to the JFK Hospital and ELWA Hospital in Monrovia,Liberia.

IOC bars Ebola-region athletes from some events @Youth Olympic Games

 

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) yesterday Friday August 15th said that it's prohibiting young athletes from the Ebola-affected region of West Africa including Nigeria, Guinea, Liberia and Sierre Leone from participating in certain events at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, which will begin today August 16th and run till the 28th.

Athletes from West Africa, where authorities are battling an outbreak of the Ebola virus, will not be allowed to compete in combat sports or in the swimming pool, as it is impossible to rule out the risk of potential infection, the IOC and the Nanjing Youth Olympic GamesOrganising Committee said in a joint statement.

A video of a Shiba Inu trying to put water on a fish out of water is making its rounds on the internet, and its probably the cutest thing we've seen all day.

When a boatload of fresh fish are left on some concrete in just an inch of water, the dog starts flicking water onto the fish with its snout.

Many people are taking this act as a final attempt to save the fish… but science might be saying otherwise.

According to pet owners and canine experts alike, what the Shiba is probably doing is attempting to "bury" the fish to save for later as food. But since there's no dirt near by on the hard floor, the water will just have to do.

We're still going to hold out hope that the dog is really just trying to save his new fishy friends.

‎President Jonathan Declares National Emergency on Ebola,Approves N1.9B Special Intervention Fund

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Friday in Abuja declared the control and containment of the Ebola virus in Nigeria, a National Emergency.Accordingly, the President has directed the Federal Ministry
of Health to work in collaboration with the State Ministries of Health, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant agencies to ensure that all possible steps are taken to effectively contain the threat of the Ebola virus in line with international protocols and best practices.

WHO declares Ebola an International Health Emergency

 

The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola Epidemic an International Health Emergency, stating that "a coordinated international response is deemed essential to stop and reverse the international spread of Ebola" which has killed almost a 1000 people in four west African countries.

At an emergency meeting today August 8th, the Geneva based UN health agency said the declaration of an international emergency will help in raising the level of vigilance for transmission of the virus.

WHO advised countries identified to have been infested by the deadly Ebola virus - Guinea, Nigeria, Sierra Lieone and Liberia - to declare a state of emergency and that there should be no general ban on international travel or trade on these countries. Continue...

Photos: NNPC shuts down clinic in Lagos over suspected patient with Ebola virus

 

There was panic in Victoria Island today after a suspected Ebola patient was found to be admitted at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC clinic on Muri Okunola.

The patient was said to have first been admitted at First Consultant Medical Centre around the same time Liberian Patrick Sawyer was being treated at the clinic. Men suited in white safety clothing and an ambulance were seen at the hospital around one 1pm today.

Though there's no definite confirmation that the patient is infected with Ebola, the Management of NNPC Clinic this evening announced the indefinite shutdown of the clinic.

The management said its a pre-emptive step and also said they have reported the issue to the Federal Ministry of Health as well as officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health. see more photos here...

Spain treats first case of Ebola; Spanish priest & nun test positive

 

The Ebola virus has spread to Europe. A Spanish priest infected with the virus in Liberia arrived in Madrid for treatment today. 75 year old Miguel Pajares (pictured above) had been working as a missionary in Liberia when he tested positive for Ebola at the San Jose de Monrovia Hospital in Monrovia. A medically-equipped military jet was sent to Liberia yesterday to repatriate Pajares.

A Spanish nun named Paciencia Melgar working in Equatorial Guinea has also tested positive to Ebola and will also be repatriated to Spain.

The priest and the nun belonged to a Catholic humanitarian group that runs hospitals around the world, and had been helping to treat patients infected with the virus when they were infected.

Military dislodge Boko Haram from Damboa & other villages in Borno

 

Special Forces in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign have cleared Delwa, Mustafari, Manga, Wanga and Damboa of terrorists who have been rampaging in the communities, the Nigerian military has annouced.

The special operation which began early this week is designed to restore law and order to the area and apprehend all terrorists who have been operating in the locality. The operation which has so far lasted 40 hours has dove-tailed into the mop up phase during which the remnants of insurgents are being cleared from the communities. The mop up phase will also ascertain the casualties as additional efforts are also been made to ensure the protection of innocent civilians during the operation.
Meanwhile, troops are also involved in manoeuvres to apprehend terrorists who have been attacking Gwoza and surrounding localities since Tuesday causing the death of many civilians. More details later.
